TEHRAN - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is still in the lead in Iran’s presidential election with the official vote count approaching 80 percent.

The Interior Ministry Election Headquarters has announced that 28,050,761 votes have been counted so far, which represents 77.13 percent of the total turnout.
The official tally so far stands at:
1. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: 18,302,924 votes (65.24 percent)
2. Mir-Hossein Mousavi: 8,929,232 votes (31.82 percent)
3. Mohsen Rezaii: 570,174 votes (2.3 percent)
4. Mahdi Karroubi: 248,588 (0.88 percent)
